A Midwest institution, and alas a tradition on the wane. Bridgeman’s used to be synonymous with ice cream in these parts, but the last twenty years have seen the chain retrench. I remember the ice-cream waffles at the Dinkytown Bridgeman’s (14th and 4th street, long shuttered). I do not recall the downtown Bridgeman on Hennepin Av, next to the Gopher – it was knocked down in the early 80s for City Center.

You have to love the motto: somewhat lofty for an ice-cream parlour, eh? What happens when you stop pursuing Excellence because you've caught up with it? "Jogging along side excellence" doesn't quite seem the same.
