Gopher Theater
Ahhh. There. That’s a city. The Gopher opened in 1938, adorned in the colors of the University of Minnesota. Not too big, but plush and comfy. According to “Show Houses Twin City Style” by Kirk Besse, it featured all sorts of modern contrivances - such as a water fountain you could operate with your feet! Drink with your hands full, the Modern Way!

When I came to Minneapolis, the Gopher was a nasty old porn house on porn-house row. It was knocked down in ‘80 for City Center.
