But that’s what this is about: details, particularly the ones people pass without noticing. 285 Madison Avenue isn’t a particularly distinguished structure; medieval details slapped on the usual block with the usual setbacks. But the store windows are surrounded with tiny faces - grotesques, in the parlance - and each one has to have its own story.
