Note the busted-down wooden delivery wagon and the shabby cars. The magazines inside the Public Drug Co. store might have had glamorous pictures of glamorous people doing wonderful things in marvelous places, but the reality of the 20s was considerably grimier.
The sign on the upper-left hand corner of the shot says “Gardner Hardware.” They were still around in Minneapolis into the second decade of the 20th century. It lasted 130 years. |
