Sorry to cheat you like this, but I just realized this isn't a motel at all. It's a card for Desert Hot Spring's famous Springs, which are Hot. (In the desert.) People would vacation here to take the waters, as the phrase had it.

The back of the card says the standing fellow with the white hat is L. W. Coffee, and the card calls him the Town Founder. That's something a fellow rarely seems to do these days.

He certainly founded this spa, which was located at Palm and 8th. I'm not sure which corner; I'd guess the one in the embed.
