A large and graceless monument:
The National Flag Memorial in Rosario, Argentina, is a monumental complex built near the shore of the ParanĂ¡ River. It was inaugurated on June 20, 1957, the anniversary of the death of Manuel Belgrano, creator of the Argentine flag, who raised it for the first time on an island on the opposite shore of the river on February 27, 1812
We'll get to Manny in a bit, although the name may already be known to you in the context of regrettabe naval encounters. Note the little icon on the left - the two hands holding a stick with the Cap of Liberty atop. We'll be seeing that all over the currency of this region. Often in places that didn't handle the idea of "liberty" with much success.
