Little-known fact: he was actually a journalist - one of the editors of the Atlanta Constitution - and his son won a Pulitzer for crusading against the Klan in the 20s. Disney's "Song of the South," which they prefer not to rerelease for reasons of racial sensitivity, was based on his work, but he was regarded as a progressive on racial issues.
