An excerpt from the Brick Bradford strip, a very bad strip from the late 40s. It’s one of those manly square-jawed Adventure strips, but it was utterly inept at pacing or character. As you’ll see. I mean, the city is named "Metropola," which doesn't sound like any city name at all. And this ro-bot would have to be 150 stories tall. If you can't read the copy: "Fear strikes the people of Metropola as the monster stalks out of the bay. Colossal metallic 'arms' sweep above the waterfront roofs. Great sightless 'eyes' sweep over the city, searching, searching - "
And "readers" no doubt yawned with their “mouths." |
