WELLINGTON HOTEL

Seventh avenue and 55th. "Convenient to all centers!" Well, no. The back of the card contains a message that sums it all up: "Hi! Am having a lovely time. Went to Radio City and a TV show today. Tomorrow we go to the Statue of Liberty and the U.N. Building."

Still there, and still the Wellington. The sign is still hanging over the corner, too - wonder how many hotels of that era still have the original signage.

A modern review (link now dead): "Felt like a fleabag yet was almost $400 per night average." At least there's a Deco riot in the lobby.
