Here's an honest question. How much ammo did we have left over at the end of the war? I'd guess we had a lot. At what point was it no longer necessary to hold scrap drives, and guilt everyone into handing over all their tin? I understand why you'd want to keep everyone psychologically invested in a war mentality for the duration, since attention slacks, people tire of another bond drive, presume victory is imminent, and lose the plot.

I just wonder when the materiel division looked at the stocks, gamed out the worst-case scenario, and said "yeah, we got enough."
