It was in a motel. Not any motel, though - a Motor Hotel, which meant you could expect a bit more in the way of class and finesse. Whether you got it was another matter.
Motel restaurants are in a curious in-between netherland: the food doesn't have to be that good, because it's catering to people who didn't bother to leave the joint and seek out a better restaurant. On the other hand, dinner at the Motor Hotel Restaurant could be a Night Out for some couples, so you'd have to live up to your reputation.
