Don’t know which Hody this was, but I’m guessing it was a later iteration. The colors, of course, suggest the end of the great age of Googie modernism, but not necessarily. The lights say “66 more than ’59. The reduction of excessive stylistic flourishes doesn’t look like a conscious decision to pare things down, but a lack of interest in doing anything special. You can feel the late 60s - early 70s ennui creeping in.
Unless this actually is a picture from ’61, in which case, never mind. |
