The Sweden House chain, lovingly remembered by its patrons here, started in Elgin IL in 1958 (or so; this 1967 article says it was founded nine years ago.) They expanded into Florida, put up some more in Illinois, and graced Michigan with the boon of the groaning Swedish board.
I think there was one in Fargo, although I seem to recall the name was “Swedish Table.” I could be wrong. Seems unlikely there were two competing Swedish-themed buffet chains in the land, no? |
