I miss the days when “charcoal” was considered an appetizing attribute.
Several things make this nondescript card so appealing to the eyes of post-war style enthusiasts:
1. The windows. They slant outwards, leaning into the future! Or the parking lot.
2. The trim has the All-American words “Come as you are,” because they don’t require you to put on a tie to put on the feed bag. The “Saddle Room” was, of course, the bar.
3.The “Saddle Room” logo is a variant of the font most commonly associated with bowling. Whether or not we invented the connection later, I can't say.
