The defunct and boarded up Mel-o-Dee restaurant, half a block from his house. When someone found a way to break in, there wasn't much to steal, it seems. But then the vacant building became a hangout.
Working girls and thieves and others used it as a place to hide and do drugs and sleep.
I'm sure the waitresses who worked here thought they were working girls, too. Odd how that term was redefined.
