HOLIDAY INN, Summerville SC

There's a four-story Holiday Inn Express in the vicninity - I-26 and Highway 17, according to the back of the card - but I can't say whether it's this. And I don't really care. The building that calls itself a Holiday Inn today is an interchangeable example of highway hotel design, and this one is a blaring indictment of where the chain went in the late sixties and early seventies.

"Hey, let's make the roofs thick and the windows thin! Then put a big blank wall on one end!"

"I like the way you think, kid. Now go out there and design some more."
