This site is about the golden age of motels before the chains, but I always make an exception for the low-slung precursors of today's big nationwide outfits. The architecture is crisp and restrained - which might be one way of saying "cheap," I suppose.

This one is still a motel, but the back wing now goes by "Crestridge Apartments."
