"Designed for the traveler's comfort." There's a novel approach.
"Make this your home away from home." Thanks, but I'm just passing through. Not looking for that much of an emotional investment.
"Mr. and Mrs. Jack Hathcock - Owners-Mgrs."
Yes. Well. About the missus.
In the book, “The Twelfth of August” by W.R. Morris, Plunk said he would just as soon face Al Capone as to face Louise Hathcock. As they arrived at the Shamrock, they walked into the motel office. Louise was standing right at the door and said “What the hell ya’all doin’ here?” Pusser said, “We’re here to serve a warrant on you for stealing a lady’s pocketbook.” Louise then told him to go with her to Cabin No. 1, her living quarters in the motel. When Pusser walked in, she pulled out a little stub-nosed 38 special revolver and shot at him. As he fell over the bed, the bullet missed him by about four inches. Pusser came out with his revolver and as Hathcock kept coming at him, he kept firing and it took three shots to finally put her down.
That's Buford Pusser, or course. |
