In Minneapolis. In my neighborhood, for that matter. A suburban motel in the city, right next to highway 62 and 35W. As you can see - barely - in the second photo, the motel had "Cafe Petite." Or "Cafe Polite." Given this was Minneapolis in the 50s, I'dd bet on the latter. It reopened in the 90s as a neighborhood joint, a place for great breakfasts with "ethnic" components, like pepper. Pretty good. But it closed, and the picture below - taken before the letters "CAFE" were removed - looks like submarine footage of a shipwreck. It's still there, as you'll see on the next page.
