Moorhead got a Holiday Inn before Fargo, which rankled me as a kid. But it made sense. Fargo's highway strip had two large motels; there was nothing on the east end of town. Traveling west on the interstate, this was the first big motel sign you saw. The town was so proud it named the frontage road "Holiday Drive.
Exterior hallways, glassed-in against the depredations of the elements. Humid-as-hell interior pol area. When Fargo got a HI years later, the pool area looked almost identical. This one went down years later, and there's a larger Marriot in the area.
