I wonder if it was connected to the famous theater magazine. The typeface is the same, IIRC - and it’s doubtful anyone could open a restaurant with this name and not get some legal action. Especially in New York.

The murals were done by Hirschfeld, and I’ve no idea what became of them. You think of someone painting them over, and you shudder.
