The historical records for the cafe are at the Oregon Historical Society. They include:

Ledgers contain brush-written entries in Chinese relating to the operation of the restaurant, including payroll, names of workers, and food purchased. Also includes: three (3) boxes of envelopes possibly used at the Golden Pheasant Cafe (stamped envelopes depict the four seasons in flowers); one (1) carved stone stamp of a Chinese character, possibly jade, contained in one (1) silk-covered box (the character was not used in the restaurant ledgers but is similar); one (1) lettering brush, hair and wood, marked "Made in Beijing / Follows your heart and adjusts to your hand."

The description says it was "popular with dockworkers."
