The classic HoJo A-Frame lobby. The building looks like a consistent piece of modernism now, but it really isn't - the thing-on-top, which served as a base for the weathervane, is pure 30s design. (As is the color scheme - the chain's hues would turn up all over the '39 World's Fair.) The A-frame building - or "Gate Lodge," as they were known - started going up in 1958, and are probably the main reason anyone has any nostalgia for the chain. We saw them as children, and thought they came from the future.
