Mr. Smooth and Mr. Silk were the face of Kessler ads for a few years, as America enjoyed their amusing, women-free, completely sober antics. Or not. Hard to think anyone cared. The cartoonist was Tom Henderson, who was a noted ad illustrator and funny-page artist. (His strip was "Major Fanfare.") This obit says he chucked it all to go work for Hanna-Barbera in the sixties.

Died too early at the age of 50. Surprisingly scant information about his work on the web.
