If you were writing a sci-fi novel in the 50s, you could do worse than calling your alien hero Kahler Zumbro. Or Zumbro Damon.

The Kahler is still around. Zumbro Falls is a city to the north of Rochester, but it's not big enough to have a hotel. The Zumbro was a six-story place near the hospital.

Mr. Watson died in 2012 at the age of 90. This bio says he was general manager of the Kahler from 1952 on, and he was not only a third generation hotelier . . .
