I do like the way the American Hotel Association’s abbreviated name sounds like a pleasant surprise.

“Lake City” in Minnesota doesn’t exactly narrow it down, you might think, but it is a particular place. Good for them, claiming the name ahead of everyone else! But here's the thing:

It's on a river. Not a lake.

As for the hotel, a large residential complex now stands on the site.
