Gas consumers with long memories may recognize the logo; it turned into Sunoco. Eventually. First you had Sunray DX oil out of Tulsa, which merged with Sun Oil in 1968. As a brand, D-X lasted into the 80s, after which it became Sunoco. It’s still around, and still a big player – but if you live in parts of the country without a Sunoco presence, the name may seem like one of those long-ago brands that faded away.
