Mr. Nye, the founder of this venerable establishment, died in late May 2004. In his memory we present the latest version of the matchbook. Once you could find these matchbooks all over North Minneapolis; Nyes was the place to go for an occasion, or just a round (or eight) with friends. There was a swank dining room for the swells, and a long bar for the guys who just got off from the Coca Cola bottling plant down the street.

The neighborhood went downhill in the seventies – what didn’t, of course – but Nye’s stuck around long enough to see its fortunes rebound along with Hennepin Avenue.
