OUR LADY OF THE COPPER KETTLE CULT |
We know little about the Copper Kettle Cult aside from its obvious prominence, but this work suggests a funeral rite. The machine on the right accepts the body of the dead; the machine on the left, which has no door, symbolizes its ascention to the next plane. The position of the Kettle held by a Perky Vestal over the garments suggests they are being purified for wearing in the next world.
Of course, someone had to take the body out after the ceremony, but we assume they were forbidden to discuss it. |
