Beer, a grain-based fluid used to accomodate relaxation, was often used to celebrate commercial arrangements. We do not know from the setting if the men have purchased the women or are exchanging them, but it's clear that one of the women was part of the celebration, since she has the ceremonial liquid.

They probably had an aphorism along the lines of "if you don't hold a beer, the deal is not in your favor."
