Ah, the days when this was a fairly straightforward ethical situation. Not anymore: the pipeline is bad because it hurts nature, either by preventing giraffes from going to their ancient spawning ground, or by spilling oil on the ground, thereby killing the mustard grass. The guy in the chair is technically handicapped, but when you add white privilege, money, resource control and land appropriation from indigenous people to his ledger, it overwhelms the virtues of being disabled. The Oil Rustler below is acting on behalf of the earth. Dale gets a pass, depending on where she stands on a few key social issues.
Note how the Oil Rustler is able to see Dale and Uncle Six through the pipeline, via the magic of the reader's eyeballs. If we can see them, somehow he can too. |
