Imagine the artist’s thrill when he saw the blue balloon covering up his name. It’s almost as if the target audience - kids - might not recognize it. They might not. Lichty had a message signature, but a distinctive style. I remember the “Grin and Bear It” cartoon from childhood, and by then he’d really boiled it all down to messy squiggles. His noses, in particular, looked like someone attacked a rutabaga with a Sharpie. But: influential and popular then; more here.
