Imagine them performing: you couldn't see their legs, so you'd just see these overdressed woman-cones sliding around, waving their arms.
Fun fact: "In every show, Richard Dwyer would give away a dozen roses to a random 'grandmothering type' lady who was sitting in the front row in the audience." We met him before in the 1971 book; from all accounts, he's still involved in the World of Skating.
