Remember the first card? The hotel began life with “Viking” engraved on the cornice. But sometime between then and its rechristening, it had a spell as “The Northern.” For how long I can't say, but I think I know why. The adjacent train station serviced the Great Northern line, so perhaps the hotel hoped to capitalize on the association. And perhaps they were duly sued for it, and thus the Bison was born.
