Sullivanesque. There aren’t many examples of this style of decoration in Fargo, and as far as I know no one’s ever done a piece on the origin of these items. The building itself was designed by William Kurke, according to fargo-history.com, but I don’t know if he was responsible for the designs. Given that he also did the featureless Graver and the featureless North Dakota State Capitol building, it seems unlikely. Or perhaps he had one spasm of decorating fever, and regretted it for the rest of his life.
