Since 1997 I've been at the Star Tribune as a columnist; in the last few years, I've been doing video for the paper as well, including co-anchoring the . . . interesting experiment we called Newsbreak, a daily TV show. The camera adds ten pounds, they say; I thought it added 35, so I lost about 20 pounds to get down to earlier fighting weight. And that's where we are right now. I'm still a columnist, and now I'm a blogger as well, writing all day. That's just part of it - at present I contribute to a variety of sites, but who doesn't, and I write for a few national publications, and have a few books percolating.

Still employed. Never a journalist, but always a newspaperman. I can think of worse headstone summations.
