The next three pages detail the increasing size of the American farmer. On the left: the gentleman farmer, the fellow who has a little plot out back, brings in some beets and carrots, nothing serious. Likes to play at farming, but knows more about crops and such than the average city dweller.
On the right, a fellow who looks like Dr. Frankenstein's more successful attempt to use a well-adjusted brain with a sense of humor. The Sturdy Oak! Could probably lay out the Chieftain man with one blow, but heck, that would be just plain contrary. Live and let live, that's his motto. |
