It seems a pity they went to all the trouble to eliminate extra letters from "Built Well" only to suffer the duplication of a Biltwel Welt. Surely the public - the Modern, Discerning Public - could have understood and accepted BILTWELTS.

I don't even know what a Welt is, aside from a swollen mark on the skin. But now we know: the dictionary says "a leather rim sewn around the edge of a shoe upper to which the sole is attached." Bottom line, I guess: these shoes won't fall apart the first time you wear them in the rain.
