I love that masthead illo. Makes me a bit sad, too. As for the cartoon, "Fair and Warmer," you'll note that the Authentic French Illustration has nothing to do with the joke. So it goes for the entirety of the book. Who knows what sophisticated Gallic japes were erased and replaced by He-She gags?
